What I'm Reading

I'm a bibliophile. My journey started with Nancy Drew, and then I found Jo March, and I'm also a Claire Randall Fraser fan.  I love stories with strong female characters.

I always admired Nancy Drew. I envied that she had a solid friendship with Bess and George. As a kid in a military family, I moved more times than I could count and started many friendships. Some have lasted longer than others. My love for Nancy Drew mysteries showed me what can be accomplished if we are willing to think outside the box.

My grandmother was a huge influence on who I am as a writer and reader.  I remember telling her at the age of 9 years old that I wanted to be a writer.  She always supported that dream. She gave me my beloved copy of Little Women, and thus my dream of becoming a writer started. I always wanted to be Jo March, someone who loved passionately, dreamt big, and served others.  I think I'm well on my way.

One last heroine to share with you is Claire Fraser, nurse turned doctor and time traveler. The Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon was introduced to me by my mother-in-law. I fell in love with the strong characters, the story line, and Scottish history.

Who are your favorite characters? What books speak to you?
